The Joondalup Pledge
Take another look at the lifestyle and environment we were promised in the Joondalup Country Club Estate Investment Protection brochure. Some of the key elements quoted in this brochure include:
- “You have chosen an outstanding lifestyle amidst a superb natural environment.”
- “A magnificent natural environment is being created for you and we will continue to work with you to keep it that way.”
- “The Joondalup Country Club Estate Design Panel has been established to ensure that your neighbours share your sense of responsibility and pride in your surroundings. We’ve drawn up an Investment Protection Covenant that will be placed on the Title of all land purchased at Joondalup. This Covenant and civic design guidelines for each stage will enable us, on your behalf, to prevent any unsightly architecture, untidy additions to properties and the clutter of poorly constructed sheds and fences. Consider it our commitment to protect your investment and make Joondalup an exceptional place to live.”

Design Guidelines – 1989
This is the relevant Design Guidelines portion of the submission document from 1989 and to which the owners must have agreed to. This provides the original intention of the resort development. Key highlighted comments from the document include:
- The Resort Hotel form should project an identity of a low scale development successfully integrated with its natural environment. The impression should be of a “village in the bush”
- … low rise buildings
- Buildings should preferable be a maximum of two storeys in height…
- …entry impression of a “resort tucked into the landscape”
