We’re still waiting for “official” outcome from Council Meeting

By now you will have learned from various other sources that last Tuesday the Council voted not to approve the Local Development Plan.

Those of you who were at the meeting or streaming it online may well have been confused about the outcome as, following the debate, a number of amendments were introduced and were edited ‘on the fly’ before the vote was taken.

We were hoping to advise you of exactly what was voted on and who voted for what, but as at close of business on Friday the Minutes of the meeting had not been posted on the City’s website. We will await publication so we can inform you of the official outcome.

Such was the confusion, and in response to mutterings from those present, that Mayor Jacob had to interrupt the next Agenda item to confirm that “the Council has voted against the LDP”.

This of course is not an end to the matter as the developers have the option to appeal this decision to the State Administrative Tribunal or to submit a Development application direct to West Australian Planning Commission. We shall be ‘watching this space’.

In the meantime there are two other matters out for consultation which might be of interest one of particular concern to Connolly –

Building Sustainable Neighbourhoods – Infill Housing Review | City of Joondalup

You can participate online and your responses may help reinforce the message Connolly SOS has been promoting these last few weeks.

Do not hesitate to use comments like

  • “Do not support infill housing in this location”
  • “Does not fit in with character”
  • “insufficient infrastructure and amenities”
  • “insufficient open space”
